Mission United-Proudly Serving Those Who Served
Supporting Veterans Across the Treasure Coast
More than 45,000 Veterans and their families live in St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. Many face obstacles in accessing the VA benefits they've earned, as well as the social and human services they need—whether related to health care, mental health, housing, employment, transportation, emergency relief, or basic stability.
What We Do
MISSION UNITED Okeechobee & St. Lucie (MU OSL) is a UNITED WAY Veterans initiative, powered by Our Village Okeechobee. Together, they leverage their connections to the VA, social and human services to help Veterans and their families navigate the often confusing and limited network of community, government, and nonprofit resources. Our goal is simple: support Veterans and their families in building a sustainable, stable life.
Veteran Peer Support
Our Veteran-Peer care coordinator works one-on-one with Veterans and their families to:
-
Hear them; their situation, circumstances, needs, goals, and challenges,
-
Assist them in understanding and navigating the system of services,
-
Connect them with appropriate services, resources, and services,
-
Create a navigation plan to address their needs and in some cases provide direct support, including financial assistance, transportation, and personalized care coordination.
