About Us.
Women United is an affinity group of United Way of St. Lucie County that was started in August 2018. The purpose of this group is to bring women together to contribute their personal passions, best ideas, and unique strengths to the mission of building stronger communities. The events consist of recruitment mixers, Lunch and Learns, and volunteer opportunities to engage the women in the community. Currently, the group is focused on a wide range of community issues such as children’s mental health, children’s homelessness, and disaster relief.
Women United.
As an integral part of United Way, Women United fights for health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community. We are diverse, vibrant community, bound together by a powerful sense of belonging - to each other, to the organization's mission, and to the communities we call home. Our powerful, global network of women leaders, over 70,000 strong, lives united against the most critical issues facing more than 165 communities in six countries.
We Ignite Change.
It's in our nature to protect fervently and fight fiercely for the people and causes we care about. We have an innate ability to communicate and get to the underlying issue. And we have an undeniable determination to do something about it.
Why Women?
A powerful philanthropic force - women are more likely to both give, and give more across almost every charitable subsector. Throughout the years, the power of our women leaders remains irrefutable - today we are engaging more women and raising more money than ever before, which means more women are making a deeper and broader difference, both at home and around the world.
- 43 percent of nation's top wealth holders are women.
- Women are responsible for 83% of all consumer purchases.
- As of 2014, there are nearly 9.1 million women-owened enterprises, employing nearly 7.9 million workers and generating over 1.4 trillion in revenues.
- Globally, by 2026, women's charitable giving would reach $1 trillion per year if women gave at 1.7%.
