LEADERSHIP GIVING SOCIETIES

Alexis Charles-Henri Clerel de Tocqueville, in 1931, traveled the United States. His observations formed the basis of Democracy in America, a study of American society and politics. Perhaps his most important observation was that Americans hold in common a unique willingness to work for the public welfare – a tendency to lend faithful support to neighbors and countrymen, especially in times of need.

The Tocqueville Society was created by United Way Worldwide to recognize individuals who are passionate about improving people's lives and contribute $10,000 or more annually to United Way. The Society also exists to promote and encourage voluntary community service, and recognize the value of such service to our nation.

United Way of St. Lucie County also recognizes the leadership, generosity, unselfishness and determination of giving by the following designations.

Diamond $5,000-$9,999

Emerald $2,500-$4,999

Ruby $1,000-$2,499

Sapphire $500-$999
